Activities

Walking may seem as though it consumes a trival amount of time. However, I spend a surprinsing amount of time walking to different destinations every day. Yesterday I walked to Curry Hicks, Herter, the Rec Center, Frank Dining Commons, Morill, the Library, Totman, and to my dorm. I also walked to some of these places several times. The journey grows ever long and perilous.

Daily routine - walking

Submitted by sworkman on Fri, 02/02/2018 - 15:24

On Wednesday I spent a good portion of the day traveling around campus either by walking or in a car. I walked to the dining hall in the afternoon, then to my first class in the research towers. From there I walked to Morrill where I spent the majority of my day, only walking in between classes to the next room. After three classes there I walked to my dorm before walking to the library. I got picked up in a car from the library to go get food, but walked from the dining hall back to my dorm.

Eating and Talking with Friends

Submitted by nchenda on Fri, 02/02/2018 - 15:24

The parts of my days in which I look forward to is when I get to eat with friends. This includes lunch, dinner, and late-night. My friends and I tend to eat or stay in the dining commons for at least 1-2 hours at a time (sometimes more). We do not just eat and leave once we're done eating like other people. We get there and we stay there until everybody is done or until people have things they have to go do. We always eat at the same big circle table because that is the only table that fits everybody most of the time. Sometimes we have more people than we can fit at a table so we take up 2 tables. Those tables are basically our territory in the dining commons. It basically has our names on it. As we eat, we involve in so many different conversation topics with each other. We always laugh hysterically and we are usually loud. We also do homework and help each other with things we need help on once we're done eating. Sometimes we even play games with each other. People don't always come eat at the same time so whoever comes first usually waits until the rest of the people come and finish eating also. This is the reason why eating with friends takes up so much of my day just about everyday.

Spending time with my friends

On Monday, I did a lot of stuff with my friends. After my Plant Physiology class, me and my friend met up at Blue Wall to eat lunch. We hung out at Blue Wall for about an hour until he had to go to class. Once he left, I went back to my dorm to take a nap. After my nap, a couple of my friends came over and we played Xbox together for about an hour. After we got bored of playing Xbox, we went outside and played basketball on the outdoor basketball courts in Southwest. We played basketball for about one and a half hours and then went to Hampshire dining hall to get an early dinner. After we ate, we all went our separate ways to go home and shower. Later that night, me and my friend Ben went to the library together to do some homework.

In-class assignment week 2

In order to remain productive and accomplish my daily tasks, I had to make a To-Do list that contained all the things that needed to be done after my last class. The most important task was paying my insurance bill because the policy was about to expire, the office is 45 minutes away and it closes at an inconvenient time of 4:30 p.m. After getting that out of the way, I headed home. When I got home I put in a load of laundry and started to make a chicken and sweet potato dinner. After I ate, I cleaned up in the kitchen, washed the floors, and sat down to do my homework. At 8:00 p.m. my sister needed to be picked from work. Once that was done, I came home and put in the last load of laundry and folded the dry laundry and sat down to finish my homework. Before taking a shower, I organized my desk. After my shower, I brushed my teeth, prepared everything I needed for tomorrow and got into bed. I fell asleep right away.

Recalling a Day

Submitted by rmirley on Fri, 02/02/2018 - 15:23

One major aspect of my day is how I spend whatever leisure time that I have. This category usually takes place between my classes and towards the end of the day. Between classes since I usually have awkward 1-2 hour gaps I will usually watch an episode of a show depending on how invested I am, or play a multiplayer match in a videogame to pass the time. Later on in the night I will often spend time with my roommates, where we will decide on new shows to watch together, play games, or just talk about what is going on in our lives. Finally towards the end of the night, roughly 1:00am-2:00am, I will workout to clear my head and help me fall asleep quicker. These leisure activities are prevalent in my daily life, and depending on what time it usually is, I will have certain activities that I will be more likely to do.

Daily Activities (In- class)

For the separate class of activity, I experience during my typical Mondays I decided to involve travel, whether it be walking, running or riding a bus. I began my day walking down stairs and out of my house. From my house I walked to the bus stop across from CVS, where I got on the 33 and rode it all the way to the Studio Arts Building bus stop. I then got off the bus and walked to my class in Morill 2 207, being sure to cut through Morill 1 because it was cold. I then left class and walked to my next class in Morill 2 131. After leaving that class I walked Blue Wall for lunch. After ordering a sandwich from the deli I preceded to walk to a table and eat my sandwich. After eating my lunch I walked to the dish room to put my tray away and then continued walking to the ILC bus stop, where I got on the 33 once more. I took the 33 to the bus stop across from CVS, where I got off and walked back to my house.

Preparation

Submitted by lgiron on Fri, 02/02/2018 - 15:22

In this experience, getting ready is to physically prepare for an experience or action. This can be anything ranging from putting on clothes in preparation for the day to putting books in your backpack in preparation for class. This happens in my days quite frequently and evenly throughout my day. First thing is getting dressed, this prepares me for my first class or action, followed by personal hygiene such as brushing teeth and shaving gets me prepared for any social interactions. Putting the correct notebooks in my backpack prepares me for classes that I have that day as well as any other important things I need, such as my laptop. I perform these task quite frequently throughout my day.

Walking On Campus

Submitted by jonathanrubi on Fri, 02/02/2018 - 15:21

Walking is necessary to complete tasks on campus throughout the day. Between the hours of 10:30am and 8pm which I was on campus, I walked to Newmans center, Morrill Science building, Blue Wall, and Draper Hall. The purpose was either to attend class or consume food. I was able to navigate using my previous experiences and knowledge of the layout of the campus.

Tracking my walking and driving

Submitted by liamharvey on Fri, 02/02/2018 - 15:20

I spent a considerable amount of time yesterday going from point to point. In the morning I drove to parking lot 12; it took about 15 minutes. I then had to walk to the ISB for my Bio383 lab which took another 15 minutes. After lab I walked to blue wall. I then walked to the rec. center. Both walks were no more than 5 minutes. After the gym I walked back to my car in lot 12 and drove home; about 20 more minutes of travel. Later that night, I was picked up by a friend to go to their house, which was about a 10-minute drive. We then went out to the bars which took another 10 minutes. At the end of the night we took Uber which took at least 20 minutes as there were several stops. In total, about one hour and forty minutes of my day was spent getting from point A to point B, a huge chunk of the day.
