Gray and white are made up of the same colors. They both use red, green, and blue. The difference between the two is the intensity that each color is added. For example, white is all three colors at their highest intensity (225), while gray is all 3 colors but only at an intensity of 128 each. This aim is designed to see if the spider will pick the color that is made up of the highest intensity colors, or pick the background that uses less of the colors.

The RGB color model uses the colors red, green and blue to create virtually any color. To make white using the RGB color model, all of the three colors are put to their highest intensities. To make yellow both red and green are put to their highest intensities and no blue is added. This aim will allow us to see if the spider prefers white- which is the color of the spider, or yellow which is the color the spider is able to turn to.

The goal of this project is to investigate whether the crab spider shows preference in the substrate it chooses. The preference that will be tested is color and complexity of the background.  It is known that the spider can change its color over the course of several days time from shades of white to yellow or vice versa depending on the spider's location. We will give each spider 2 choices in background color using yellow to white as the control. Other groups of colors that will be tested are dark gray and light grey, white and grey, cyan and green, and red and magenta.

Light entering from outside of the tank should also be the same on both sides. To keep this consistent do not place in sunlight, or somewhere that there are shadows. Overhead lights should be used because they will keep the light even on both sides. The lights should remain on 24 hours a day, so the spiders are always able to see the color of the background they are on.

To make sure that the spider strictly picks a side based on substrate color is it important to keep all other factors consistent. For example, temperature needs to be kept consistent inside of the tank. To do this, the spiders need to be kept away from windows and housed somewhere there is no breeze. It has been shown that spiders are less active in colder temperatures, so keeping them at room temperature (70°F) is important.

Saving the Labrador Retriever is the most logical decision. The Labrador Retriever is the breed with the largest litters. By saving a pregnant lab mother, there is a better probability of getting a large number of young. With a greater number of young, there is a larger chance of getting both male and female puppies. In addition, when the next generation is then born they will also likely have large litters leading to expanding the population more rapidly.

Due to the new retrovirus that is killing domesticated dogs and only one vaccine being available, a decision has to be made on which dog breed to try to save. Dogs have earned the nickname “man’s best friend” because they are often loyal, and become a part of the family. All different breeds of dogs have shaped the lives of many Americans. Unfortunately, not all breeds can be saved, so it it important to look at which breed should be saved by thinking credibly, logically, and compassionately. Looking at these categories it becomes clear that the vaccine should be given to a pregnant Labrador Retriever.

The vaccine should be given to a Labrador retriever because the American Kennel Club which is a highly respected organization says that the Labrador Retriever is the number one most popular dog breed. Labs are the number one owned dogs by Americans. If the majority of dog owners in America own Labrador Retrievers, then it is clear that they are great dogs and deserve to be the breed that is saved.
