Baltigo Island Data Analysis- Group One

Submitted by mtracy on Fri, 10/19/2018 - 15:25

Figure One: Baltigo Island Data Analyis. The above scatter plot compares male and female Baltigo Island spiders in regard to balloon length, weight (in mgs), and total distance traveled. Female spiders have bimodel balloon length, while males have a narrow range of balloon length. Female distance traveled is positively corellated with weight. Male is not correlated. Female balloon length is negatively correlated with weight. Males have a slight positive correlation with weight.

Figure 1. Momoiro Island Spider Travel. There is a similarity in the increase in weight and distance traveled in the male and female spiders. As weight increases, the distance traveled increases. There is a stark contrast in the balloon length and weight between the male and female spiders, with heavier females having a longer balloon length and heavier males having a shorter balloon length. The shortest balloon lengths generated the greatest distance travelled by males contrasting to the females where the longest balloon lengths showed the larger distances travelled.

Figure 1. Scatterplot matrix of male and female balloon length (cm), distance travelled (km), and weight (mg). Females are represented in a black color and in circles. Males are represented in a red color and in triangles. Column one has balloon length (cm) on the x-axis. Column two has distance traveled (km) on the x-axis. Column three has weight (mg) on the x-axis. Row one has balloon length (cm) on the y-axis. Row two has distance traveled (km) on the y-axis. Row three has weight (mg) on the y-axis.
