Chloroplasts are green because it contains the photosynthetic pigment chlorophyll. This pigment makes the leaves look green, because the pigment absorbs blue and red wavelengths of visible light the most, and green shades the least. Therefore, it reflects mostly the green wavelengths, making it look green.
