Figure Observations

Submitted by nstockbridge on Thu, 07/18/2019 - 09:42

Both figures came out very similar that I think either will get the same point across but some of the differences I observed were having the photos in a different order in the figure. Three of the photos are also being viewed from an upside down perspective with two of them missing arrows to direct you to the affected leaf. The picture with the ruler for scale is measuring a different section of the leaf giving a different reading. The photos are also taken from a different zoom level being further out for the two pictures of the leaf and a more zoomed in level of the map and about even level for the full plant. The figure itself has spaces between each photo and a slightly different size text label in each corner.

You should finish the paragraph with a sentence that wraps the paragraph with a thoughtful conclusion. I have a hard time with these things myself so it takes me twice as long to write then most people it seems.

starting with this, this sentance wants to convey
- that you think they are similar
- that they say the same thing
- that there are differences
- the photos were in a different order

Seperating into paranthetical clauses or different sentances would help its readability and get more points across
"Both figures came out very similar, and I think get the same point across, but, some differences I observed included having the photos in a different order in the figure."

The problem is, even if its more readable, its still coming out as a bit too much. I think part of the issue is that your taking a very middle ground approach, but maybe should stick to one side. Is it very similar or is it different. in this case I think I would just say the figures may appear similar but are in fact different
