Sample: I am wondering what species of insect this organism is and whether or not it bites.

EDIT: After about 30 minutes of observation time of the organism, I am left with several unanswered questions, the paramount being, what type of insect is this creature? I would like to hypothesis that it is some type of grub, however I am unsure of the biological classification of this group of insects to correctly name it. This question could not be answered through simple observation alone, it would require references from past studies or input from an entomologist or another professional familiar with grubs.

Observations of Mystery Organism

The organism measures approximately 2.5cm in length and 0.5 cm in height with seven sets of limbs, three being in the front portion of the body and four sets in the rear portion. What is assumed to be the head region of the insect is much darker in color than the rest of the off-white body, featuring a noticeably darker mouth piece. The footpads of the insect are also darker in color than the rest of the body The insect’s boy is segmented into 16 observable parts. There is a spotted pattern along the side of the organism’s body, featuring tiny brown dots on its lower half. The creature moves quietly by propelling itself via motion triggered by the back legs through a wave-like movement. The body of the organism is thicker in the center than at the ends and can overall be described as elongated, cylinder-shape with bi-lateral symmetry. The tail-end tapers off in size and is curved downwards.

The insect is desperately trying to escape the cup with no luck.

I am wondering what species of insect this organism is and whether or not it bites.
