Planarian abstract 1

The Planarian is a peculiar organism and the research of the planarian is also worth exploring. Planarians are photophobic and is influenced by different wavelength. Its regeneration feature allows it regenerates even it is cut into two pieces. The memory from the initial individual is also inherited by the second individual which grew from the cut part of the body. In order to decrease the cost of the biochemical memory experiment about the planarian and widely distribute the research on planarians, this project try to use a cell phone in-built flash light instead of a light with an electric shock to do the experiment.

Planarian, which is a flatworm specie, is belonging to Turbellaria classes. It is known as a practical experimental subject for biochemical memory experiments. Its regenerate feature is extremely valuable in different fields of study. After being cut into two pieces, planaria can still regenerate its lost body parts by growing into two separate individuals. The research even showed that these two individuals share the same memory. It is a form of memory retrieval action and has been proved in recent years. This research topic also links to the secret of reaching immortality.

Given the situation, I think Labrador Retriever should be saved. Firstly, it must be an emergency because scientists only developed enough vaccine to save only one pregnant mother and her puppies. Under this circumstance, reducing the damaging/lost range is the first and the only thing to be done. And this thought leads to the option: saving a Labrador mother and her puppies.

There are two main reasons to save Larador. The first one is it's role in our lives. Labradors are often trained as disability assistance because of its temperament. Labradors has great gentleness, highly intelligent, and no aggression. We can see Larador is really useful to human. 

The other reason is the popularity over the world. Larador is one of the most popular breeds of dog in many countries. It means losing this breed will make more people sad than other breed will do. And this is exactly what we don't want to see. If a species has more population than other species do, protecting the species with more population will be the only option under an extreme situation. 

In one word, I think Larador should be saved from this virus disaster.

    I will prepare two flashlight devices, multiple planarians and multiple dishes for this experiment. Firstly, I will put one planaria on a dish and project one flashlight on it. Then I will record the level of scrunch of that planaria. Secondly, I will set the same planaria on a dish and project two flashlight on it. I will also record the level of scrunch. I will make the same action to every other planarians.

    After collecting data, I will use the data to make graphs. I will use graphs to find the relationship between the number of the flashlight and the level of scrunch.

Figure 1-3. GPA vs. Gender- Based on the trends in the graphs, it is apparent that the majority of females have higher GPAs than males with a few exceptions. 

Figure 4-6. Gender vs. Hours Slept per Week- This chart shows that the female population slept a greater number of hours than the males on average. This is apparent from the female curve being shifted to the right of the male curve. This indicates that the max number of hours slept by both genders is similar, but more females on average slept more hours. 

Figure 7-9. Gender vs. Hours Studied per Week- This chart shows that the trend for amount of hours studied is quite similar in males and females. However, notice that the female curve is shifted over to the right of the male curve. This indicates that while the max number of hours studied by both genders was similar, on average, the female population had more members that studied a higher number of hours. Based on the rightward shifts of the female Sleep and Studying charts and the general trend of Females having higher GPAs, it is apparent that there is a correlation between the number of hours studied and slept and GPA.

In that section, writers described the material they used and the method they used in the research. The method includes "MDA quantification assay,""enzyme activity assays,""real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction assay,""western blot analysis"and "statistical analysis(Yuan 2017)."
