Students entering the Neuroscience Track must have and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0.
1. Five required courses:
Psych 100: Introductory Psychology or Psychology 110- Psychology as Natural Science
Psych 240: Statistics in Psychology
(Psych 241 should be completed by the end of 1st semester of Junior Year)
Psych 330: Behavioral Neuroscience
Psych 392: Junior Year Writing Seminar or two Psychology Honors courses
2. Two of the following:
Psych 315: Cognitive Psychology
Psych 320: Learning and Thinking
Psych 335: Behavioral Neuroendocrinology
3. One of the following:
Psych 350: Child Psychology
Psych 360: Social Psychology
Psych 380: Abnormal Psychology
4. Advanced neuroscience elective (at least 3 credits, 500 level of above), or
Psych 391 seminar in a neuroscience topic area
5. Lab course requirement (one of the following; at least 3 credits):
Psych 397A 430 499T Bio 499T
Independent study (graded) or honors thesis may be taken with any faculty member associated with the NSB Program, for example Bio 396 or 496 (Independent Study). See www.umass.edu/neuro for a list of NSB Program faculty members and their research interests.
6. Math (one of the following):
Computer Science 121 or two calculus courses (Math 127 and 128) OR (Math 131 and 132)
7. Introductory Biology (one of the following):
Bio 100 and 101 Bio 102
8. Biology elective (at least 3 creidts; 283, 285, 297A, or 300+)

9. Chemistry 111/112 and 261/262 and 269
10. Physics 139, or 131-134 or 151 and 152
11. Biochemistry 420 or 523/524 or Bio 559 or Bio/Biochem 285 (Bio 285 cannot be used to fulfill both requirements 8 and 11)
