Benefits of Undergraduate Research

There are several goals of this program. All of them are intended to provide quality undergraduate research experiences in STEM disciplines. By engaging in meaningful research, students are more likely to successfully complete a degree in their major, get into graduate or professional school, and get a quality job.

Activites sponsored by LSAMP include:

• Research experiences under the direction of a UMass professor.
• Research meetings and conferences to present the results of your work.
• Seminars with other participating LSAMP students to share research experiences and provide peer support.

Benefits Include:

• A stipend of $500 per semester
• Automatic continuation in the program each semester until graduation for LSAMP students in good standing.
• Some money to cover research expenses.
• Support staff and advisors to help trouble shoot academic or research problems.
• Networking opportunties with students from other colleges and universities.
• Opportunties to improve research and presentation skills.
