Dog Stomach Fundus

Dog Stomach Fundus

Slide displays section of fundus region from dog stomach. Tissue is subdivided into three layers. The apical-most layer contains gastric pits opening to the lumen (L). At the base of the gastric pits is the isthmus (I), seen as the basal end of the dark staining gastric pits. The necks of the gastric pits (N) continue through the tissue, ending in the basal fundus (F) area. The basal most layer- the submucosa (SM)- can be seen as well.

For histological comparison, see Huma Stomach Pylorus.
