Dr. Craig C. Mello, the 2006 Nobel Prize winner in Medicine or Physiology will be the keynote speaker at the first annual
Five College Undergraduate Science Research Symposium. Dr. Mello was awarded the prize, along with colleague Dr. Andrew Z. Fire, for the discovery of
RNA interference. Please join us for Dr. Mello's talk: "Return to the RNAi World: Rethinking Gene Expression, Evolution and Medicine". The talk will be
held at 4:00 pm in Mahar Auditorium. It is free and open to the public.

ABOUT THE SYMPOSIUM
The first annual Five College Undergraduate Research Symposium aims to showcase interdisciplinary science research at the undergraduate level. The
Junior Fellows in the Life Sciences at the University of Massachusetts and the Five College Symposium Committee will host the event . All Five College
undergraduates conducting independent research in the life sciences are encouraged to present their work, especially seniors completing capstone
experiences.

The first annual Five College Undergraduate Science Research Symposium will be held at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst campus on May 4th, 2007.

UNDERGRADUATE SCIENCE RESEARCH POSTER SESSION
For Five College Students interested in presenting their research posters during the symposium's poster session, please fill out the online application below.
Each presenter will be assigned a poster board at the poster session. The board dimensions are 4’H X 6’H and are cork mounted on wooden pedestals.
Please make sure your posters are no bigger than the board dimensions. Pushpins and thumbtacks will be provided at each board. Please see our
Suggestions for Poster Presentation guidelines for ideas on what your poster should contain.
All online abstract submissions will be printed as part of a booklet which will be made available during the poster session.
POSTER PRESENTERS: Please park in the Campus Center Garage. Directions from each of the campuses are below. Registration for poster presenters will begin at 12:00pm. The Poster session is scheduled to start at 1:30 and end at 3:30 pm.
