ABOUT THE SYMPOSIUM

The UMass Undergraduate Life Science Research Symposium aims to showcase interdisciplinary science research at the undergraduate level. The Junior Fellows in the Life Sciences at the University of Massachusetts will host the event . All Five College undergraduates conducting independent research in the life sciences are encouraged to present their work, especially seniors completing capstone experiences. Students participating in the Commonwealth College Conference on May 1st are invited to participate in the UMass Undergraduate Life Science Research Symposium on April 13.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER
DR. RANDY L. BUCKNER
Dr. Buckner with brain
Dr. Buckner is an HHMI Investigator and Professor of Psychology at Harvard University, where he is affiliated with the Center for Brain Science. He is also faculty of the Athinoula A. Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School. Dr. Buckner’s research continues to adapt new imaging methods and behavioral tests to study brain regions implicated in normal memory. He also investigates memory deficits in the healthy elderly and in those afflicted with Alzheimer’s disease.

UMass off-campus students and students from the four colleges will be provided with either free or discounted parking passes (while supplies last) at the Campus Center Parking Garage . Just park and let us know when you check in at the poster session that you'll need a parking pass. If we run out of free passes, we will have $5 all day parking passes available.

POSTER SESSION

WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING ABSTRACTS.

YOU CAN SUBMIT YOUR ABSTRACT ONLINE AT: ONLINE SUBMISSION FORM.

Each presenter will be assigned a poster board at the poster session. The board dimensions are 4'H X 6'W and are cork mounted on wooden pedestals.

Please make sure your posters are no bigger than the board dimensions (we strongly recommend that they be 3'H X 4'W or 36"x48"). Pushpins and thumbtacks will be provided at each board. Please see our Suggestions for Poster Presentation guidelines for ideas on what your poster should contain. A great resource on how to design a scientific poster can be found here.

Poster presenters can check-in at the registration table from 12:30-2:00pm. Please remember that the poster session begins at 1:30 sharp.

All online abstract submissions will be printed as part of a booklet which will be made available during the poster session.

POSTER PRESENTERS:
All poster participants will be entered to win one of 4 $50 iTunes gift cards.
