Logical Promoter

Logical Promoter

Created By:
Brewer,S.D.

About the Image

Logical Promoter is a simulation, by Steven Brewer that illustrates how the effects of transcription factor binding which regulate gene expression can be thought of as logical gates (e.g. AND, OR, NAND, NOR, and XOR). In this image, genes A and B produce RNAs (lines) that are translated by ribosomes (cyan squares) to transcription factor proteins (irregular polygons) that bind to transcript factor binding sites (grey squares) to regulate the exression of gene C. The simulation is authored in Netlogo. Brewer maintains a site with other Netlogo models, including other models related to gene expression and metabolism.
