Summary

A community wireless network would:

• (1) allow seamless access to everyone in

  • campus spaces
  • town meeting rooms
  • businesses
  • public spaces (e.g. Town Common, bus stops, etc)
  • research papers

• (2) reduce costs by

  • requiring less expensive hardware
  • reducing redundancy
  • leveraging individual spending to extend the network

• (3) benefit the community by

  • increasing access to networked information video sharing
  • boosting faculty and student productivity
  • contributing custom research papers
  • creating positive publicity to attract students and faculty
  • facilitating collaboration
